Standard recipient country

When setting up a Pingen account or creating an Organisation in Pingen, a default destination country must be defined.

The default destination country should be the country to which letters are mainly sent.

Benefits of the Default Destination Country

If the Organisation's default destination country is one of the following countries, no country needs to be stated in the address for local letters:

  • Germany
  • Switzerland
  • Austria
  • The Netherlands
  • India

For example, if "Switzerland" is set as the default destination country, the country "Switzerland" no longer needs to be specified in the address for letters sent to Switzerland.

Address without country

Since Pingen prints and sends locally in the above-mentioned countries, letters that do not have a country listed in the address are automatically sent to the default recipient country.

Please note: For Organisations with the default recipient country Germany, it is mandatory to omit the recipient country (e.g. Germany, DE-, D-) for local letters. Learn more

Depending on the destination country, the letter requirements such as the address- or postage area as well as the restricted areas on the border may differ. If Pingen cannot detect any country in the address, the letter is automatically validated against the requirements of the default destination country.

Change the Default Destination Country

If the default recipient country is not one of the countries listed above (e.g. Poland), the country must still be specified on the last address line. The country spellings accepted by Pingen are listed in detail in the article Supported country spellings in the recipient address.

Change default country-recipient country

The default recipient country can be adjusted at any time via Manage organization --> Configurations.
