Two-Factor Authentication
Two-factor authentication (2FA) provides an extra layer of security for your Pingen account. It ensures that you are the only person who has access to your account, even if a third party knows your password.
If enabled, you will be asked for an additional code when you log in, which you will receive via your authentication app.
For two-factor authentication, you need a smartphone and an authentication app such as: Google Authenticator, Duo Mobile, 1Password, Authy or Microsoft Authenticator.
Enable Two-Factor Authentication
Two-factor authentication can be easily enabled in the Account Settings. Simply click on your user name in the top right corner of the Pingen WebApp, select "Settings" and click on the navigation item "Security". There you have the option to enable "Two-Factor Authentication" for enhanced security:
Next, open the authentication app on your smartphone and create a new confirmation code (most apps offer a plus icon + for this). You are then be asked to either scan the QR code in the Pingen-WebApp using your authentication app or enter the set-up key manually.
Once you have done this, the authentication app generates a confirmation code. Enter this 6-digit code in the open sidebar of the Pingen WebApp and click on the "Enable" button.
The two-factor authentication is now active.
Login with Two-Factor Authentication
Once two-factor authentication has been enabled, the confirmation code from the authentication app will be requested every time you log in to the Pingen WebApp.
What should I do if I can no longer access the confirmation code?
If you lose your smartphone or no longer have access to the confirmation code, it is generally not possible to recover the code as the codes are device-specific. In this case, you can contact Pingen-Support to disable two-factor authentication for your Pingen account.
Disable Two-Factor Authentication
If required, two-factor authentication can be easily disabled again in the account settings. To do this, click on your user name in the top right corner of the Pingen WebApp, select "Settings", click on the navigation item "Security" and select the "Two-Factor Authentication" option. If two-factor authentication is enabled, you can disable it again by clicking on "Disable":
In order for the changes to take effect, you must confirm this action with your password:
