Layout requirements (French Organisations)
To ensure your documents can be automatically printed and forwarded to the post in France, they must comply with certain French layout standards and requirements by Pingen.
Letter template France
To comply with these requirements, you can use the template below that meet all our layout requirements.
Note: For letters to France, La Poste (the French Post) requires the recipient address to be on the right-hand side. Therefore for Organisations using France as Default Destination Country, Pingen only supports right windowed envelopes.
Design options & restricted areas
When formatting a document for Pingen, you need to consider three important areas. If these areas are not fully respected in the PDF, you can fix them using the Pingen WebApp or via Presets. Learn more about Presets here
Address area
To ensure that the recipient's address is clearly visible in the envelope window, the address must be placed within the Address area. The Address Aaea is located at the following position on the 1st page of your document:
- Distance from the edge: 110 mm from the left (x), 50 mm from the top (y)
- Address area size: 80 mm x 28 mm
To fix the Address area: If an address runs outside the Address area, the address can be fixed in the Pingen WebApp or via Presets for the affected letters. Learn more about Presets here
Postage area (La Poste Safe Zone)
La Poste (French Post) requires a safe zone of 20mm around the Address area. Thus (except the postal franking) no information might reach into the Postage area. The following area on the 1st page may not contain any content:
- Distance from the edge: 90 mm from the left (x), 30 mm from the top (y)
- Postage area size: 115 mm x 64 mm
To fix the Postage area: Letters with content that intrudes on the Postage Area can be fixed using the Pingen WebApp or via Presets for the affected letters. Learn more about Presets here
Restricted areas
To ensure your documents can be printed in full, any content must be placed at a minimum distance from the page’s outer edges as well as from the top right corner:
- 5 mm from each edge
- In the top right corner 20 mm
To fix Restricted areas: Letters with content in restricted areas can be fixed in the Pingen WebApp or via Presets for the affected letters. Learn more about Presets here
Special requirements for international letters
Letters sent to recipients outside of France are printed and delivered abroad (and not delivered via La Poste). Thus letters from an Organisation using France as Default Destination Country to recipients outside of France must comply with the general layout requirements stated in the following article:
- Layout requirements (for non-French Organisations)
Note: To automatically comply with these different layout requirements we recommend using Presets with the “Fix Recipient Address” action enabled. Learn more about Presets here
